In the past years, DanKung has had deep communication with global fibeglass fans, they love either fly fishing fibeglass rod or BFS fiberglass rod. Below is the discussion and common viepoints of what a nice modern BFS glass rod should be.
The modern glass science is in balancing a rod that:
1. Has a soft supple flex - Some people like fast rods some people like slower, progressive bends. Personally I think a moderate to fast is most forgiving to get timing right. I do not like ultra fast rods because they are very hard to time. Very advanced casters may think differently.
2.Has HIGH precision out to at least 50 ft (this is typical range for catching trout anyways), as finesse casts need to be further out and away from the fish before retrieve so the splash is further away from spooky fish. A rod that can do this for ultra light lures down even 1 gram or below (occasionally, most hardcore trout people can get by with 1.2g-2.5g, but the low lure rating is vital for spooky trout in US (and indeed UK) rivers) as long as the reel can keep up (and there are only a few that can at the moment, often with mods).
3. Fast rod tip recovery after cast - Rod tip recovery is "how fast or slow a rod tip comes back to a standstill after the cast. Cast the rod and watch it flex. Now see how long it takes for the rod tip to stop shaking — not just the big motions, but the minor shuddering at the end too. Good rods recover very quickly. They may be fast or slow. There is a lot of talk about S-glass (unidirectional) and Anglo and Company's BRANDED Paragon G Glass (not sure about the actual construction as this G-glass thing feels more like branding), Anglers are amazed at the fast recovery of the Japanese Anglo & Company custom rods (watch the Enjoy Fishing Channel on youtube). It's quite amazing how they pulled off that soft flexy rod (with a highly portable multi section construction no less!!) that bounces back straight to an almost standstill right after a cast. As far as glass rods for BFS goes, they are the gold standard but very expensive. It's a big opportunity to hit the market at the budget price point for finesse glass rods.
4. Has enough backbone for good sized fish - Trout here in the US tends to be a fair bit larger than in Japan with 12"-20" not being uncommon. This said... this property is hardest to balance with the other properties. But it must be achieved without affecting to other properties.
5: BFS fiberglass rod a very exciting niche in fishing with A LOT of depth in technique that probably many fly fishers will likely be drawn to as well ( I am a fly fisher who crosses over to Finesse baitcasting for specific use cases like very brushy streams or when I need to cover a large stretch of featureless water to prospect for fish. )

love UD Glass rod
Agree most of them, I have several UD glass rods (Glassfin rod and some JDM rods). Here is my view of it.
UD glass trout rods are an excellent choice for anglers who are looking to optimize their trout fishing experience. These rods are typically slower and have more flex, which makes them ideal for cushioning the jumps and head shakes of trout, allowing for a smoother and more enjoyable fishing experience.
One of the main advantages of UD glass trout rods is their versatility. Unlike other types of rods that are specifically designed for trout fishing, UD glass rods can be used for a variety of fishing applications. Of course, UD glass rod is very good for trout fishing.
Another advantage of UD glass trout rods is that they are well-suited for both beginners and experienced anglers alike. The slower action and greater flex of these rods make it easier for beginners to cast and present their bait or lure effectively, while still providing the sensitivity and control that experienced anglers require.
In addition, UD glass trout rods are known for their durability and longevity. These rods are built to withstand the rigors of trout fishing and can provide years of reliable service if properly cared for.
Overall, if you're looking to get the most out of your trout fishing experience, a UD glass trout rod is definitely worth considering. With their slower action, greater flex, and versatility, these rods can help you catch more fish and enjoy your time on the water to the fullest.

nice Trout rod
I was probably the most early user of GLASSFIN rod, I ordered it 2 years ago.
For me, the Glassfin rod is a very good small-middle trout rod on small creeks to medium rivers.
I also have a Anglo rod(luckily I got it at only 550 dollars, now the price doubled). In terms of performance , it's closed to anglo, just keep improving it from current baseline towards the best trout glass fishing rod. About comparison to another famous glass rod, the major craft major craft finetail glass rod, Glassfin in fact is quite different rod from Finetail glass rod which is more like a graphite rod although it's named as 'a glass rod'. So from a glass rod standpoint, Glassfin is much better than Fintail rod, on recovery, casting predictability, lure twitch, accuracy, hooksetting etc. Wish DANKUNG make new editions of GLASSFIN rod for larger trout, maybe a pure glass material can not do this, a blend of graphite and glass or boron material must be using ? I am not material expert, just share the ideas & advice.

Field test of Glass rod
Thumb up to Mr.Hobie Won,
When you guys are talking about philosophy of glass rod,
He is field testing with Glassfin rod + new Roro AX22 spool for the Daiwa Gekkabijin, Alphas AIR Tw and Silver Creek AIR TW.

budget high performance
This rocks!! I am a material engineer loving BFS fishing. I'd lke to share some material science knowledge behind glass rod.
So far, the best glass bait finesse casting rods are a hollow blank (this is why solid glass rods are generally cheap. horrible function. no sensitivity..,, ).
In addition, the advanced glass-fibre cloth has taken the modern formulations which gives the blank greater stiffness than older glass blanks(for a long time, glass blank had a bad reputaion).
An example of advanced glass isЎ°S-glassЎ±made in UK. Ў°S-glassЎ±rod is priced at about 1000 dollars.
Japan's Anglo and Company's BRANDED Paragon G Glass is another example.
The fast recovery of the Japanese Anglo & Company custom rods (Youtube's the Enjoy Fishing Channel) is amazing.
Obviously now DANKUNG Glassfin is an advanced glass fibre with much favorable price. It's quite wonderful to see the Glassfin rod bounces back straight to an nearly standstill right after a beautiful and cool cast.

very good for moving lures
Generally speaking, for jig head and bottom contact lures (jig head soft lure, ned rig, eurotackle zviber, soft worm etc.) a carbon rod is more useful whereas for moving baits (all your sinking/floating/suspending/topwater minnows, pencils, jerkbaits) a glass rod is much more beneficial and more fun (my Glassfin rod + Calcutta Conquest BFS reel is an perfect combo). But DANKUNG 's new Boron Glassfin rod is likely to break this rule, Kevin told me Boron-Glass rod will be very good for both bottom lures and moving lures. That's still an experiment product, not released yet.

amazing glass rods
For both DANKUNG Glassfin and Japanese Anglo rod, when I am fishing something like a minnow or crank bait that soft action acts almost like a absorber that cushions the hit. This is an amazing experience I never have had with carboon rod.
It also helps set the hook for you almost like an circle hook. I basically needn't have to set the hook with my glass rods(glassfin, Anglo 4113, Majorcraft finetail etc), but I still make a slight upwards motion to ensure the hookset.
