We had a brief talk with ANLAN product director.
ANLAN is not shutting down; it's facing significant challenges with financing and new product development, but it continues to make slow progress through considerable effort.
The fine pitch gear has never been used in any CDM reels. This is the fundamental reason why no CDM reel is as smooth as the top JDM products, especially after extensive use, when the performance of CDM reels tends to degrade more quickly, and some with the noise of gear.
If successful, ANLAN will be the first CDM reel to incorporate fine pitch gear. Additionally, ANLAN has many other unique features that other reels, including JDM reels, do not possess, say, smaller size, almost 100% metal parts....
This would be an unprecedented and excting product. We will take part in the design and developing, as well as testing...

The ANLAN reel project has been paused (and possibly canceled). The company’s boss and product director have canceled the product launch event three times without providing any explanation.
The main issue seems to be that ANLAN set its ambitions too high. Throughout the reel’s development, numerous problems kept arising, draining both time and financial resources.
ANLAN aimed to create a reel made almost entirely of metal parts, which, as far as we know, has not been achieved by Shimano, Daiwa, or any other company.

In contrast, the DK100 reel, with its realistic and practical design goals, has made substantial progress over the past few months. The development is steadily advancing toward a high-end reel. DK100 even invested in a specialized machine from Japan to produce ultra-precise bearings.

Update on 20 July. Now it's in small batch production stage.

ANLAN reel is the first reel that uses High Pitch Gear Teech System in CDM.
High end JDM reel, such as Conquest, uses the High Pitch Gear Teech System.

ANLAN is a metal fishing reel, uniquely designed with all parts and components originally crafted in-house, rather than using pre-existing market components. The aim was to fundamentally enhance the reel's design and functionality. DANKUNG is proud to have been involved throughout the entire development process. The first version was launched in July 2023, and following extensive testing, a list of potential improvements was compiled. After a year of development and refinement, the second version was internally released in July 2024. According to our tests, the smoothness of this second version nearly matches that of the HAIBO ARISE AIR. Unsatisfied with settling, ANLAN Company decided to continue optimizing the reel (from the parts production mainly) instead of releasing it to the public.

ANLAN Full Metal BFS Versatile Reel
This versatile, lightweight BFS reel is initially available in a left-handed version with a 7.6 gear ratio and approximately 140 grams.

It features all-metal construction with CNC precision-machined parts, except for the brake pads.
Boasting 99% metal composition, it includes a segmented magnetic brake system.
The reel features a reversible, thin-walled, 28mm spool weighing 6 grams, including the spindle and bearings.
It offers an easy cast starting at 1 gram with 11+1 bearings and a 3.5kg max drag with an drag clicker system.
The line capacity is 100 meters at #1.0 PE line.
Future models will include a universal spool and support for small batch customization of side cover patterns and overall color.
All parts will be sold at cost individually.
