Today I received an order that included a ‘Magic Band Maker’, sent to me by Dankung as a reward for posting a picture of my slingshot collection in the forum (http://www.dankung.com/topic/dankung-collection_2429).
I just tried it and I must say I am very happy with it. It Is very easy to use, and the resulting band setup is very solid, there is no chance of the band being untied. I used a stick through the round hole on the end to pull the tube through. I guess you could also use a Keyring. The finish on the metal is not beautiful, but it is not rough either (there are no sharp burrs that would damage the rubber).
This tool is obviously intended to be used with rubber tubes, but I think it can be used for rubber bands too (using a rubber ring cut from a rubber tube).
I did not find this tool in Dankung’s shop, but it is so good that I would encourage them to add it. I think that at a price of 3-5 USD it would be a great purchase. It is much easier to use and cheaper than the Tubing Band Rig (12.80 USD).
Let me know if there are any questions!
Here are a few more pictures of the tool itself.
I have seen similarities on eBay for £1 all the vendors are based in China/Hong Kong
Hi, Domfitzy, thanks for the comment!
If you use tube bandsets, I recommend the tool to you. I think this tool is worth that and more.
I would expect a better finish at a 5 USD price tag, but I would still pay the price.
Yes, that's a very useful tool. I found it's free at DANKUNG, Just you need use a coupon at http://www.dankung.com/blogs/dankung-usa_1567
I am from Germany, I got that tool after using that coupon on my order
Hi, BurgerMan,
I also got my tool with a coupon, but I don't know if that was just a limited offer, or if Dankung plans to keep sending them.
Best regards.
Hello Boys, i got the same tool from Dankung as well once you've master the way to make loops bands with the tool, you can make a set with in 5 minute also use a bit of water would help lots as well..
Hi Mansell, why do you use the water for? To make the rubber slider more easily?
Yes use water to help the rubber ring to slide to the mark..
Oh, I see. I will add water next time, as last time I just stetched and rolled the rubber.
I guess dipping the tool in water might help it to slide on the tube, too.
